There’s no better way to get connected to the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) than through a learning community. Whether you’re an incoming freshman, transferring from another school, or switching your major, the learning communities will help you meet new people, plan for your future, and make meaningful connections with your peers and faculty.

Undergraduate Student Learning Community

If you’re an incoming freshman or transfer student majoring in culinary food science, dietetics, pre-diet and exercise, food science, or nutritional science you are invited to become part of this learning community.

What Is It

The learning community provides the opportunity to take common courses with other students in the learning community, interact with peer mentors, and attend a variety of social activities and field trips to enhance your college experience.

How to Join

Sign up during orientation and class registration. It’s that easy!

If you’re interested in living with other members of the community, you’ll need to sign up for the residential learning community option by clicking on the “Learning Community” tab when filling out the Department of Residence contract on AccessPlus.
